| LEARN TO ROW |
No Prior Experience Required. Participants
are introduced to the sport of rowing. After “land”
instruction where participants are taught water safety,
rowing technique on indoor rowing machines, and proper
handling of rowing equipment, they go out on the water
to learn basic sculling and sweeping. Participants must
pass a swim test before being allowed in a boat. Youth
learn to row focuses on sweep rowing, while adult learn
to row focuses on sculling. |

| YOUTH NOVICE |
Prior Learn to Row or Comparable
Experience. Students engage in training to improve conditioning
and rowing technique. “Novice” is an established
rowing classification for youth rowers in first year
of racing. They will race in novice heats against other
rowers with comparable experience. Primary focus is
on sweep rowing as this is the major scholastic form
of rowing. |

| YOUTH VARISTY |
Competitive youth program with high
level focus on technique and conditioning. Focus is
on sweep rowing in eights and fours as those are primary
scholastic competitions. Team members will race in a
number of regattas. |

| ADULT INTERMEDIATE |
Prior Learn to Row or Comparable
Experience. Focus is on sculling. Program concentrates
on improving technique in quads. Mid-level workout.
Rowers, at their option, can seek to move on to doubles
or engage in more vigorous rowing exercise. |

| ADULT COMPETITIVE |
More focus on technique. Higher level
physical workout, race training. Rowers can row in quads,
doubles and singles. Adults can compete in regattas,
at their option. Sweep racing also offered. |

Adults can take out boats in compliance
with boat house rules after passing “Captain’s
Test” administered by PCRA coaching staff. |
